Manchester City vs. Manchester United - Premier League, 10/11/2010

SETANTA Canada ADDS MANCHESTER DERBY TO THIS WEEK'S SCHEDULE! - Manchester City host Manchester United in another always anticipated Manchester Derby Wednesday, November 10 at 3 pm ET

Got this on my facebook. Was looking like nobody was showing it over here but Setanta comes through.

................. Hart
Zabaleta Toure Kompany Kolorov
.... De Jong Toure Barry
Silva ........................ Milner
............... Tevez

According to a mate of mine who happens to be a bertie thats 99% certain to be Citys line up on Wednesday.

Looking at that team there's only really 2 players i fear, Tevez and Silva, the rest dont look much to shout about to me, decent players but nothing overly special.

I wouldn't take them lightly, Liverpool and Chelsea went there and lost, Arsenal benefited from Boyata's red ... it will be a difficult physical game.

It will be indeed, i think it'll be a draw myself with no more than 2 goals in the match, i think both sides are stronger defensively than offensively at the moment especially with our current attacking limitations and Citys general style of play, all depends on who we can get out on the field but that City team shouldn't scare anyone thats the point i was making, they have a lot of workmanlike players especially in midfield but not much guile thats why i see Scholes as the key, if he has a good game and runs the show i think we'll have to much for them.

Unfortunately we've got a long list of rival fans who play the well-meaning good guy in the newbs to get promotion, then turn into utter morons once they've got their well-earned soap box in the mains. I haven't seen many of your posts but going into the FC United thread and calling them jokers, then coming in here trash talking our midfield and getting pissy with people who prove you wrong doesn't exactly set a good impression. I have no agenda but I will pull people up if I think they're talking shite, especially if I can prove it.

I'll me you regards to this as I don't wish to go of topic

Because Pol pot is not an administrator on here.
If oyu don't agree with my views then fair enough but insults are a bit piss poor.

He's back...

We just don't like your kind around here...I'm afraid you'll have to get used to it.

All I can say is at least we only have to play them twice a year so this muppetry won't be that often, oh I forgot the League Cup last year, but that's not guaranteed.

As I and many other have said before, its a Derby, form goes out the window, you've beaten us with much weaker teams. We have a lot more Derby history in our squad, which should put us at an advantage, it means far more to the United players than the City players, they are all new & don't really know what it means to us.

Most of your team probably thought they were coming to United anyway

Makes me laugh that considering all my mates are united fans, good job they dont have the same attitude as you.
All citys new players have experience of playing in bigger games than Manchester derbies so theres no doubt in my mind they will cope with the pressure especially with it being at home. Can the same be said of the likes of Bebe, Chicharito etc?

Theres a program on ITV now about the rivalry between City and United. Its narrated by Cantona and all about the passion for football in Manchester. Not sure if its only in the granade region though. starting in a few minutes in anyone is interested

Its not about pressure, its about the whole Manchester Derby thing.

The Shitty team see playing United as the playing the best.

United see playing Shitty as playing Shitty, where ever they are in the league.

Surely you must know the specialness of the Derby?

Its nothing to do with having played in big games before...

Its special to the fans mate and the people of Manchester. Its special to the likes of Giggs, Schols, Neville, Richards, Michael Johnson. IMO its just another match for the rest of them.
You don't have to tell me about the importance of the derby. I have lived in Newton Heath all my life and all my mates are rags. Problem is most of the players don't think like me and you

Did you see the Scholes goal at the end of the Cantona program & his reaction? That's what it means to United. To the majority of Shitty players its just 3 points...Tevez apart, but only because he's got history... the rest just take the money...

Scholes is a latics fan from Middleton, he will know all about what the Manchester Derby means to the fans. Your kidding yourself if you think the likes of Anderson, Bebe, Chicharito etc really care. Same can be said about Silva , Toure, Balotelli, Boaten etc. They will pay lip service to it, about how much it means to the fans but I would hazzard a guess they won't feel as bad as me or you would after losing a derby

So you think having the likes of Scholes, Giggs, Neville etc around won't have an effect on the youngsters?

SAF's been involved in Derbies for 24 years, do you not think it isn't mentioned in team talks?

Mancini has no history of Derby's it means nothing to him except another 3 points & a feather in his cap for beating the best...

Mancicni was Inter Milan manager mate, I am sure he knows all about the importance of derbies

Maybe some good news here, apparently Nani has a 'good chance' of being fit for the game, its in the Mail granted but any positive news on such important players as he is is good news.

Manchester United are hopeful that Nani will be fit for Wednesday night's derby clash with rivals City at Eastlands.
The Portuguese winger limped out of last week's Champions League victory in Bursaspor with a groin strain and has been a doubt for the much-awaited clash.
However, it is understood that the 23-year-old has made good progress in his rehabilitation over the weekend and has a good chance of making Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up.

The United boss is also hoping that striker Dimitar Berbatov will have recovered from a stomach virus in order to play in a game that defender Patrice Evra is sure will underline the traditional order of things in Manchester.
The France international scoffed when it was put to him that City believe themselves to be on their way to usurping United as Manchester's biggest club.
'They always say that and they never beat us,' said Evra.
'We need to win every game. We don't need to win just to win against Manchester we look to win the league, that's it.

'And if we win it is a good result for Manchester United. It will just be normal, it will not be so special. It is not the priority. The priority is to win the league but make sure we don't lose the derby.'
At City, games against their local rivals have taken on extra significance since the financial input of owner Sheikh Mansour two years ago elevated the club to the upper echelons of the Barclays Premier League.
The signing of Carlos Tevez only served to give City further cause for optimism after the Argentinian forward left Old Trafford to come to the club, while this season's audacious attempts to sign United's star asset Wayne Rooney was motivated in part by a desire to unsettle tomorrow night's opposition.
For their part, United like to project an air if superiority, suggesting that a game against City is only marginally more important than any other league fixture.
However, midfielder Paul Scholes underlined just what derby games mean when he admitted United would be happy if City never won the trophy they crave to break their 34-year drought.
Scholes, a veteran of 21 derbies, said: 'We are all desperate to stay above City. We wouldn't like City to win anything.'
Meanwhile, it has emerged that the club's chief executive, David Gill, became embroiled in a row with United fans in Turkey last week.
Gill was dining with Bursaspor officials when he and fellow director Sir Bobby Charlton came under fire for their association with United's controversial American owners, the Glazers.

Beat Manchester City? It is nothing special to us, says United star Patrice Evra | Mail Online

Paul Scholes after last seasons derby winner!

"I HATE THEM!!!, they're animals and i butchered them like animals"

Ok maybe not Scholes himself but im sure he echoes those sentiments of Mr Skywalker.

Serious? He managed Inter for a spell, and as an Italian I'm sure he knows full well the importance of derbies to the fans and players. Even if he has had no emotional attachment whastoever to City up until 2009, he'll still realise this is a damn important game. Anyone with a bit of football knowledge knows that United City is a big game, especially now.

I'm sure the players will realise that, even if its only their first derby. Yes, Neville will appreciate it more than say Bebe, but every player knows the magnitude of the game.

If I were to join Celtic tomorrow, despite not giving a shit about them until that day, I'd still understand that playing Rangers means a hell of a lot and is the most important game.

Didn't City sell Michael Johnson? It's been a while since he's played. If he is still there is he even registered?

The only player I hate in the derby was Shuan F*ckin Wright Philips who has a habit of scoring wonder goals against us nearly everytime...

Thank god he's not a regular anymore.

I know what you mean i thought it was just me who always felt that little prick had blinders every time they played us, it was so annoying seeing as hes absolute garbage against everyone else and is basically a very shit player but for some reason he'd cause us no end of problems and suddenly turn into Lionel Messi for the duration.

I guess in short feck off Shaun Wright Phillips.

Great news about Nani, any development with Carrick?

Personally I think it's good to have a City fan as well as fans from other clubs for match discussions.

Got this on my facebook. Was looking like nobody was showing it over here but Setanta comes through.

They originally had Chelsea/Fulham on so have they bumped that game? I couldn't believe that it wasn't being shown so thanks for this.

No mate hes just getting back to full fitness and is looking mean and lean. hes in the 25 and I hope he will be gradually introduced after the xmas. Hes been ovwerhyped at times due to having a good half a season under Sven but he deffo has ability and it will be good to get him back as hes still only 22 I think

lol them quotes kind of negate all Col's argument about it meaning more to united players than City's. Apart from the local lads which united still have more of I don't think the rest care other than in a professional manner and tbh thats how I would prefer it as I don't want players losing their heads Seper Mario style

What's the latest on the injury front? Has Berba started training? What about Giggs?

Would not suprise me in the slightest if Rooney was on a plane home as we speak lol

Nah I would be pissed off if he plays which I m 100% confident won't happen anyway. He needs to rest. Last time we bought him on early, his performance dipped. He needs to recover fully before we bring him back on. I wouldn't mind waiting for him till even the second week of December.

javi should start for sure!

Will saf go three in CM?

I don't think so unless Berbatov is still ill. He played 4-4-2 in Europe and against Everton and Pool this season. We played 4-3-3 against both the merseyside teams last season. So if Berba is fit, its going to be Chica and Berba upfront with hopefully Nani on the right and Giggs/Park on the left with Scholes and Fletcher in the middle, although I would prefer Carrick to Fletcher.

Depends how brave Fergie is. If United go 4-4-2 they could get totally over run in midfield but theres a chance if united do go 4-4-2 they could exploit us down the flanks. We have been too narrow at times and Wolves took full advantage of that last week with Jarvis being a proper nuiscence.
Personally I think Uniteds big chance is by exploiting down the wings, especially with Nanis pace up against Zabaletta. If United choc the midfield and have the wide men coming inside congesting the midfield even more then I think City will win.
Will be interesting to see how United cope with Silva. Last year City had no one like him at all, someone who could orchestrate things. It could come down to who has the better game out of Silva and Scholes as it will be them 2 who are the main men imo
