North Korea

I'm sure the US tearing up it's agreement with Iran has been highly educational for Kim, he can't fail to realise just what the word of the US means.
The whole world should tell the US to step out of the room while diplomacy takes place. They are doing more harm then good at this point as this reality tv administration can't even get their spelling correct most of the time.

In which case Kim will have won, having retained his nuclear technology, and proved significant missile capability and invulnerability to Trump's childish military threats. Because the goalposts have moved now haven't they? all he has to do is close a test site he likely doesn't need anyway.

The only question is how Trump will present this as a victory, but I'm sure he and his supporters will give it a good try.

They've already started to sing "Nobel" to him.

Unfortunately, the sanctions have been choking him for years. He badly needs to get money and resources to relieve some of the domestic pressure. That - along with Moon's flexibility, Xi's cooperation, and Trump's chest pounding - is what is allowing this to happen.

I honestly don't think Trump had anything to do with this. In my honest opinion, Kim still hates his guts and is doing this more with South Korea than with the US. At the end of the day Kim knows that Trump and the US by extension cannot be trusted.

Sounds like the Kim/Trump summit will be in Singapore

Pushing America to reduce it's Military activity in South Korea.

They've every right to ask for that.

If they're denuclearising and planning on making better relations with the South then the US has to feck off and give them space to breathe.

Trust begets trust, even if the stakes are impossibly high and there's previous form for breaking it.

I don't disagree but I can't see Trumps base going for that.

They aren't denuclearising. Kim said that they will keep the nukes as guarantee for future generations, but they won't make more nukes.

Denuking is definitely part of the plan. Trump won't be interested in allowing Kim to keep some nukes.

Kim has never shown any willingness to give up his nukes, that's why this entire meeting offer has been a sham from the start.

John Bolton says 'we're looking at the Libyan model' on denuclearisation. That worked so well for Gadafi of course. How can he not know this is exactly the wrong thing to say?

Surprising that anyone actually thought it would happen. He was always going to back out one way or another.

Can that letter be real? Isn't there anybody left in the WH to smack him on the head and tell him to let the professionals do it? Ffs.

"I felt a wonderful dialogue was building up between you and me, and ultimately, it is only that dialogue that matters. Some day, I look very much forward to meeting you"

Even Sarah HS would have seen what's wrong with that...

How’s that nobel prize looking?
