I don't think he's going to sign. It's nearly March already and he only has three or four months left on his current deal, if he was really willing to sign badly he'd have signed a new deal by now. He won't get £20k+ here for a new deal, he doesn't play, he has no strong attachment to the club having joined less than three years ago. You'd think there'd be no better place to be for a young midfielder right now with us needing one but then again Giggs have just signed an extension, Cleverley has got back from injury, Carrick have been in top form and Anderson will get back to his best eventually. Fletcher might be back from his illness at some point next season and we might offer Scholes a new one-year deal because he has really been impressive these past few weeks. He won't get much time next year either.

Don't follow your logic. It's quite possible he badly wants to sign for United but also wants to negotiate the best deal possible for himself. If that's the case, it's in his own best interest to negotiate as hard and long as possible. What's he got to lose?

have to disagree Sarni. Fergie wont be thinking about next season but about the next 10 years. Clearly Pogba will be part of that. He has said Pogba wants to stay. Its about setting precedents imo.

I think he'd definitely become first team member in two years because realistically next season has to be the last one for Scholes and most likely Giggs as well. We'd be left with A 33-year old Carrick, Cleverley, Anderson and likely Fletcher. Will he have the patience to wait though? And there's always a chance that we might sign a midfielder in the next two seasons (albeit I maintain that it's a slim one).

There's always a risk that United will get fed up with him playing hardball. We got fed up with Morrison and sold him.

Besides, how many times have you seen a footballer negotiate contract up until this late and remain at the club? It works both ways to be honest, when you leave it this late but want to stay at the club, the club might not be willing to offer you vast amounts of money when they realise you don't really want to leave.

This. I've felt like this for the last 18 months or so when it comes to football. Coincided with me getting back into and watching NFL and NBA. I think I actually enjoy watching those sports more at the moment!

I still love football but when something like this occurs it really bugs me. I just wish that agents would feck off, players were a little more open about their status (yes I know he gave an interview about enjoying his time here etc but just wish he came out saying that he is looking to negotiate with just this club for now) and that the glazers would feck off with this stupid policy of not giving players a new contract until our hands are tied due to the player's having such a short time on their contract. It's going to feck us up soon, we probably should have offered Pogba a new contract a year ago. Now he has no resale value and can rape us for as much money as he likes or leaves.

End rant

I'm still not following you.

Are you saying the fact he's leaving it so late means he doesn't really want to leave?

A couple of posts back you were saying it means he doesn't want to stay?!?

Just bumped into a fellow United fan at work. He told me that he's heard that Pogba has signed a pre contract with Juventus? Is there any truth in this guys? We were both in a rush so I didn't get a chance to ask him where he heard this from.

The club's new policy of waiting until the last minute to open contract talks is utterly disastrous.

Nope, read it again. I think the fact that he's left it so late gives a hint that he doesn't want to stay here that badly. Surely he won't mind it, no player ever would, but he could well leave if he doesn't get offered very good terms.

When asked about Pogba going to juventus, Raiola said: 'we' ll see'

Really worried about losing this guy. No smoke without fire, let's hope he makes the sensible choice.

As I said. That doesn't make sense.

If he wants to stay, he wants to stay. That won't stop him/his agent trying to get as good a deal as possible. If that involves negotiating right the way up to the last few days/weeks of his contract then so be it.

I don't see how you can deduce from the way these negotiations have dragged on that he doesn't want to stay at the club. There's loads of examples of players with long careers at United who negotiated long and hard before eventually signing a contract.

I'm not convinced, myself. Fergie said that we made Pogba an offer and none of his reps even bothered to get back to them. This news came around the time that the papers were saying that he won't even discuss a new deal. Perhaps they were correct.

Morrison was a good player but with the totally wrong attitude. The club bent over backwards during his court cases etc. United were right to get rid.

Pogba seems to be easily led by his agent, rather than thinking about the longer term. Staying at United would be the best move if he wants to develop as a player. But, if he wants to leave, then leave.

Which players have left it three months before the end of their deal?

Hope he fecks off to be honest. Get rid of two potential cancers in 6 months and let players who want to be here have a chance.

We'd probably be left with about 5 players at the club if we let go of everyone looking to get themselves a better deal when negotiating a new contract.

agree totally.

When all is said and done, the player must want to play for United.

I still think Fergie will get him to sign for us.

Yeah but some of those players deserve that little bit extra. Pogba has done feck all. Once he proves himself and intimates that he wants to stay then the results and commitment can be rewarded.

But as I said, he has done feck all.

You don't even know the full details of what's going on and yet you're ready to call him a potential cancer? Jesus.

It all depends on how much more he's asking for which we don't really know. Him asking for 5 or 10K extra is more understandable than a first teamer asking for 50K extra.

He may have done feck all in the first team but he still has a value. Let's hope the parties agree on a common valuation soon.

stay calm lads. the media just make mountains out of molehills.

Pogba is not a Morrison case. Even in that case I feel Fergie must have sold him to West Ham for big Sam to bring him along...wont be surprised to see him back in a few years.

Back to Pogba. I'd be very surprised if he does leave. He is absolute class.

fingers crossed. btw I think the Juventus link has been floated by his agent to put pressure on the club...all part of the modern game and agents.

Incidentally there is a young lad in Peterborough right now quietly doing some great work who was named our youths player of the season and who I am infinitely more excited about than money grabbing slaves to their agents.

He just came out and said as long as we put contracts in front of him then he'll sign them. That is the kind of player I want representing us, talented grateful players with commitment. Apologies if my idealism offends you.

With Pogba being on the bench for the last couple of games,i guess that's a clear indication Fergie think the lad is gonna stay.

Tunnicliffe isn't as talented as Pogba or Morrison. It's ok him saying that he'd sign any new deal, but if he found himself stuck in our reserves and with big clubs offering him a good wage and playing time, then we'd see what the reality of the situation is.

I agree he could simply be after United improving their offer.

To answer your question though, he has got plenty to lose if he has a major injury, illness or catastrophic loss of form before he signs, but it's up to him to judge if that's a risk worth taking.

totally different type of player.

Keane, to whom he has been compared to, was hardly as talented as Scholes or Giggs. Tunnicliffe from what we have heard is going to be something special too.

I don't think anyone saw Cleverley having the impact he had amongst fans opinions this season.
