Paul Pogba

Potential cancer, difference. I hate this contract rebel bullshit and the apologists for them trying to get the best deal. So he might be complaining about 12k a week instead of that 15 he wanted so much.

Cry me a river.

Eh? Nobody is defending pogba here, just people who dont think someone's a"potential" cancer because he wants few 1000s extra a week. He isnt English, not a local and hasnt been at the club long enough to find any deep connection, stop looking at it from your POV as a fan of the club and you might understand why he's haggling over few extra thousands.

I am with the club on this mind you, hate this contract bullshits at such a young age when he knows that he'l be offered a better one when he proves himself irrespective of the length of this one, but i still see why he'd want those few 1000s more which you or some local lad would be willing to forgo.

I think it would be a tactical error by United, given the situation, not to play Pogba in the Ajax return leg.

The contract stalemate we are in right now is a trickier situation when it involves a player that perhaps isn't quite ready, but is impatient to get their career rolling. Understandable from both sides.

It certainly won't do the situation any harm if we give him a start in Europe though.

It all depends on how much more he's asking for which we don't really know. Him asking for 5 or 10K extra is more understandable than a first teamer asking for 50K extra.

He may have done feck all in the first team but he still has a value. Let's hope the parties agree on a common valuation soon.
But that's the pathetic part.. What difference will the 3k now make if he establishes himself and gets a contract renewal in a year or two anyway? Look at Hernandez who got a pay-rise after his first year because we wanted to reward his first season. I bet he got a 20k pay-rise out of it, so moving because you didn't get 3k or 7k more than you want right now is silly.

SAF in December said:
"We are negotiating with his agent and we want the boy to stay," he told reporters on Friday. "If he doesn’t want to there is not a lot you can do about it.

"We have an option on his contract which takes us into a year and a half away so in that respect there is not a great emergency. But we would like him to sign a new contract and if he wants to be a Manchester United player he knows what to do."

SAF after the Stoke game said:
Ferguson hopeful over Pogba deal - Sport, Breaking News - Independent.ie

The United boss confirmed talks were continuing and he was hopeful of a positive resolution.

"The boy has great talent and tremendous physique for an 18-year-old," he said. "You can't believe it.

"We are negotiating his contract at the moment.

"It is a bit complicated at the moment because he has changed his agent a couple of times.

"But the boy wants to stay, that is obvious. Hopefully we can get it done soon."

Pogba last week said:
"It's very good," he enthused. "Just to train with the talented players, top-class players, and improve and get more experience.

"When I'm on the bench, I just watch and want to play with them and get involved. Like against Liverpool, it was a great chance for me to be on the bench.

"I hope I will come on and do my best and show everyone what I can do."

What some of you don't understand is the relationship some of these agents have with the players. At times it is just 'owned'. The player may owe so much to the agent from early on in his life that sometimes it is a matter of life and death. He just can't sack the guy. Most of the perks that you got earlier on were without receipt so you just can't say you will compensate them as well. The agents live for this contract.

It's a new agent for him though.

I'm not sure how Pogba suddenly becomes a 'potential cancer' while haggling over his contract? I've never heard any negative things about him while he's been here.

And as others have said, he's entitled to negotiate the best possible deal for himself. We all have a blind spot when it comes to our club, where we feel that any talented young player should want to stay here for their entire career and should praise the Lord above for being given the opportunity to do so. But Pogba doesn't have the same ties to this club that players like Tunnicliffe, Will Keane or Danny Welbeck have, so perhaps he doesn't see moving to Juventus on a vastly improved contract as the dramatic step down that many on here would.

That's not to say I wouldn't be disappointed if he left, mind.

With Fergie mentioning Pogba's 'Tremendous physique' often then its likely that Pogba will be ready for the first team sooner than most kids. Rafael Varane is getting his game for Real Madrid and he is the exact same age as Pogba so I hope Fergie throws Pogba in at the deep end at home to Ajax so the lad feels really part of Fergies plans and signs the bloody contract once and for all!

In terms of physique he is still pretty wiry, a bit like welbeck when he burst on to the scene. Obviously he will build it with time. Not a criticism but he may find his physical advantages at reserve level will not translate when playing with fully grown men.

I recall reading somewhere about Pogba being 80kg and indeed quite physical.

Decent size but he is quite a tall lad. I would expect him to maybe hit the 85-90kg sort of size in a few years time. I think his frame could handle it well.

Fergie on Five live was referring to Rio talking to the young players "He's doing a great job with young Pogba at the moment, who's a bit unsure what he's doing - " and then got cut-off unfortunately.

 What a balls up. That would/could of been some juicy info right there.

What did it sound like he was going to say? Pogba's unsure what he's doing in what sense? Surely he can't have meant whether he wants to stay or not as that would have been a complete contradiction. I reckon it had something to do with getting the deal signed or agents. Rio with has past experience n all.

The fact that Fergie says Rio is doing a great job is encouraging. He really seems to help out with the youngsters, even trying to guide Ravel in the right direction. Could really see him becoming a youth coach in the future.

To be fair, Rio does seem to help everyone at the club out. He seems to have a good relationship with everyone and is a real presence in the dressing room.

Yeah I saw one of the reserves call him "Uncle Rio" and whenever I've seen him after the games, he's always signing autographs. Seems a top bloke.

He's probably not the brightest, that's true.

Could be worse, though. He could be the sort of infantile man-child that continues to watch WWE as an adult.

To be fair Id say the chances of him being a closet fan are fairly high...its not exactly university challenge........and yes Im aware Im suggesting Im not that smart.....but Ive never claimed to be.....only smarter than Rooney, which I stand by.

Sir Alex Ferguson on Pogba staying: "It's possible. There's been no progress on his contract talks." #mufc

Doesn't look like he'll stay :(

Show him some faith and give him game time soon. Giving him his European Debut under the shining floodlights at OT might make him open his eyes a tad more.

where did you see that KM? nothing on my timeline. there is time yet ffs, we can extend his deal by 1 year next month, and he will eventually stop changing agents left, right and centre.

I don't understand this. Why on earth wouldn't you sign a contract, is it really worth all this hassle?

Possibly a scare tatic aswell by SAF there. A little one liner like that showing we arent afraid to shift him on. Well I presume the "It's possible" part of his answer was in relation to a question worded like "Could Pogba leave?".

Fair to say Pogba is stalling quiet a bit though. Agents really are cnuts.

Bit strange though if it happens with our best two talents coming through. Not a good situation if this happens to be the case.

The feck is up with how we deal with our Youth Player's contracts? Why is SAF talking about 1 year options and now potentially suggesting such a thing doesn't exist?
