Sounds like a bi-polar performance. 4-1 probably flatters us.

But SAF sometimes goes too long with the old guard and appears to be blind at times. Nani is very inconsistent but so are Giggs and Scholes in their latter years.
PIG is a steaming pile of toss
This is what happens when both Giggs and Scholes are played together. Nani should have started.
We're just not right thus far this season.
We need another player who completely believes it's his God given right to win EVERY football match. It's Ronaldo's confidence that we miss the most.
This team are BOTTOM
Get Giggs off the fecking pitch. Useless last week and useless here. Even Nani would be a better option at the current point in time.
SAF NEEDS to make changes at halftime, not wait until the 70th minute as is preferred these days.
Waiting too long for substitutions has cost us in a few recent games.
Berba must come on, and perhaps Nani to really stretch them.
Either way, MUST make changes.
We've offered nothing in that first half by all accounts. Apparently they've made all the running/ I can't say I'm surprised with this crock-o-shit system - Giggs and Valencia are not suited to being part of that front 3 in the 4-3-3 system.
If Berbatov is fit enough for the bench, then he is fit enough to fecking play. It's clear that we're struggling creatively this season, so his omission is just bemusing.
It would be a right feck up if Chelsea come out of this weekend with the gap even more than 5 points.
No. Take off fecking Giggs before Carrick. Atleast the latter is in form in any way shape or form.
Well done, spazzers.
Oh so you didn't happen to see his first half performance![]()

Portsmouth were far the better side. They created a number of presentable opportunities. Meanwhile we were playing very poorly with Rooney completely isolated.

He wasn't even that bad in the first half. The entire team was playing poorly. I think Carrick was probably worse. And it showed because he got taken off.
The lads turned things around even when it seemed like the officials were still out to get them. They're made of stronger, cooler stuff than I am, and that's for sure.
We're lacking in a lot of areas, no doubt. Brown and Vidic are not convincing. And maybe we don't have a Ronaldo to get a goal from nowhere when the chips are down. But you've got to love any team with the likes of Rooney, Fletcher, Valencia and Giggs in it.

Vidic has picked up a hell of a lot of yellow cards over the last year or so. He's getting exposed pretty regularly at the moment. Not the collosus he was before Torres gave him that schooling.
I'll be very interested to see what happens when Rio and Evans are both fully fit.
Oh feck off Pogue.
It's brilliant in hindsight to go quoting everyone from half time, but I was well within my rights. The performance turned up a notch or two in the second half. We've won 4-1, but it's a flattering scoreline given three of the goals are set pieces. From what I've heard/read, we weren't particularly creative in the match.
I notice that people are saying that Rooney was still peripheral in the second half. So I'll stick with the idea that we don't suit this system with those players on the pitch.
Quit the sanctimonious act.
I haven't watched the game actually but I've watched Manchester United enough times to know we often put teams like this to the sword after half-time, even after playing very poorly in the first half. I've also watched us enough times to know we can improve our performance without making a whole bunch of knee-jerk substitutions at half-time.
Is it too much to ask to have a bit of fecking faith in the team selection and tactics of arguably our most successful manager ever?

I have faith in Fergie, but Giggs has been average of late. He's not looked in good form and only in the second half this week has he looked like the Giggs of earlier in the season. His assist last week masked what was a poor game for his standards. When he played in behind Rooney in the second half United played a lot better because he wasn't wasting the ball he had in the first half. His first half performance was something you'd expect from Nani. He may be Giggsy, but he was poor 'along with the rest of the team', and placed massive pressure on the defense and midfield.
Well i for one stated you and others were nuts just after the first half was over. You were wrong as I have been and Pogue has been in the past but the difference is you cant admit it.
Why didnt you bold the rather ludicrious statements in your post instead of the ones you think still have revelance. Of course you have every right to post what you want but dont be a revisionist when you get called out in what was really a joke by Pogue.
we won the game mate. If i was near you i would order you a pint and celebrate with you. Just Chill and enjoy the result

It's always the fault of our own players, right? Nothing to do with going to a ground where we often struggle, playing a team that were desperate to impress a new manager?
Some of you cnuts seem to expect every single team we play to roll over and never give them any credit, instead deciding to rip into our own side the second we have to dig deep. It's not only disrespectful to the opposition it shows a basic lack of understanding of the game.

Good result and I'm pleased we've won. I won't be going overboard with the scoreline though because it flatters us.
Also, what ludicrous statements? From what I recall, I said that Giggs hasn't been in particularly great form of late compared to his early season form.
As for Berbatov - he should be starting games like this. We don't need three in midfield against the league's bottom side. He's been very good this season, but his run in the side is continually being punctuated for one reason or another. Fergie always talks about how strikers need to go on runs to get real confidence so why not start him here? I've no doubt that we'd have been at the races more in the first half with Berbatov on the field. It would have helped Rooney into the game as well.
Another thing that has been highlighted throughout the season is that our attacking potency is basically fluctuating with Giggs'. When he's at it, so are we. When he's not, we look shorn of ideas. I'm worried because he won't be able to sustain that in every match. Hence, I've been banging on that I think we need a more creative, advanced midfield player.
Here's how it is:
First half = shit. Moans.
Second half = improved. Happy.
4-1 = lets not get over excited, it flattered us. Onto the next match. Preferably with Rooney and Berbatov up front in a 4-4-2 = more creativity and less Rooney isolation.
Right, now get me a pint...
Power went off here an hour before the game and just came on. Decided to read the match day thread from the beginning, slowly, without knowing the score.
Great entertainment! Well done posters.
You must be one hell of a masochist, if you'd asked it could have been simplified to:
First Half
Shit line-up... shit start... Goal!... WTF?!?!...Giggs is shit
Half-time
Get Giggs off...
Second Half
Goal! Much better... Goal! Neville's a bit of a twat... Goal andGiggs is God!
I'm not sure Messi would be able to make the step up to the premier league and fill Giggsy's boots. Great player but could end up being a Veron.I agree we need to find a replacement for giggs long term unfortunately that means Messi or iniesta for me and i dont think we will break the bank for either of them
Im pulling the pint now![]()
Well done, spazzers.
That really was a group of ridiculous posts, neck break springs to mind
marcello I usually see eye to eye with you on matters of the football club but are you seriously saying that Nani deserves the confidence from the gaffer that scholes or giggs has?
Shocking really.
As another posted the whole team was a bit lacking (with the exception of Valencia and pigg) in the first half
any of them "Could" have been subbed off i guess.
Surely Giggs and Scholes have earned that confidence with the Hundreds of games and thousands of times the gaffer has seen them produce that one critical pass or touch that leads to a goal and in Giggs case his brilliant back tracking that he does even at his late age.
Yes there are games that both drop a bit but there knowledge and how they see the game make them invaluable to the cause. This was a game we needed to win and there was never a chance that SAF was going to sub Giggs at halftime.
You could argue that Nani hasnt had the number of games he needs and i might agree but that has nothing to do with Giggs or Scholes or your rather myopic belief that the gaffer is somehow blind to something you see and he dosent.
I'm feeling a bit guilty now tbh. We all say rash things in the heat of the moment, so it was harsh to quote all those posts.
It's just that I was trying to follow the game on this thread, for the first time in ages. The amount of wailing and gnashing of teeth was farcical. Impossible to work out what the feck was going on.
