Then there isn't progress, is there? I mean, progress means optimism for what lies ahead. Do you honestly feel we can even retain 2nd (let alone win the lague) next season with this dross?
I was (and am) pro-Jose. I had a lot of faith in him. But he's doing a lot of things that are very suspect:
- Benching his own players that he bought like Bailly and even Lindelof (who has improved marginally) for Jones. No complaints over Smalling starting.
- Shoe-horning Sanchez at the cost of the attack. What Sanchez has done so far, the collective of Martial-Lingard-Lukaku were doing before his arrival. There was a semblance of chemistry developing.
- Chopping and changing attack, defense and formations, yet style of play remains shite as ever and too dependent on Lukaku, like it was on Ibra last season.
- No cohesiveness in attack. Inability to man-manage complicated personalities like Pogba and Martial.
- Sevilla. Deserves a special mention in itself.
Give Martial and Pogba to Guardiola, and I have no doubts that like Sterling, their performances will up a notch. That is why I am worried that this won't change no matter who we sign, Savic or any promising player. Jose gets one more season, but if it is more of the same shite, then his stint with us should be over.
