Rio Ferdinand

Rio's embarrassed Fergie, but Fergie set himself up for it in the press conference. There's only one winner in this, though, as Beckham, Stam and Ince have found out in the past. Can see Rio getting all the Carling Cup games now.

I really hope not. I could accept all the previous cases. If Rio's United career pretty much ends over this it will be embarrasing.

Clubs sign up to the scheme, managers and players wear the t-shirts, they pin the badges to their lapels and they talk the talk in a manner that suggests we are all in it together.

Then, when one of THEIR players is accused of racism, it all goes out of the window.

This is what Rio and the other dissenters are so pissed about, and they're right IMO

Whenever Fergie falls out with a player then there is always only one winner. Would I be happy to see Rio get lumbered with all the shite carling cup (or whatever the hell its called these days) and get frozen out elsewhere? No. Would it surprise me if that happened and he was shipped off somewhere else in the next transfer window? No.

Ferguson is gonna look more out of touch than ever if that happens ...... If Ferdinand gets the same fine as John Terry for this then I can honestly say that I'd like Ferguson to go quietly off into the sunset.

 You're all a joke.

"I hope he goes off into the sunset".

We're talking about a player here, versus the greatest thing to ever happen to this football club.

You should all be embarrassed. Forget the issue, or the context, if you're willing to back a player over the manager on ANY issue, further calling for the Great Man's head, you're a laughing stock.

Might be a bit out there, but has anyone considered that this might be manufactured by the club? The idea being that Ferguson and Ferdinand agree to generate a controversy in order to draw further attention to the point that Ferdinand is making. Ferguson's attack on Roberts was bizarre and to follow it up with criticising one of his own players is pretty out of character.

Off-topic; LOL

That foul near the end of the game on Crouch was absolutely ridiculous. How the ref gives Crouch the foul there I'll never know.

Got pretty close to backheel clearing the ball for the second Stoke goal.. Classy defending :lol:

This fecking this.

Exactly what I was meaning to say here.

fecking idiots!

Calling Fergie a cnut, an idiot and what not! FFs ( Not saying everyone on Rio's side is saying this.)

What!fecking what!

Do you fecking think what your talking you idiot!

We are are talking about "Sir fecking Alex Ferguson" here.

Rio could be right but he could feck off if he falls out with SAF and not the other way round.

Pardon my language or tone as sorry I am a bit drunk.

But I know what I am saying is absolutely right.

Can somebody fill me in real quick? what happened? been on vacation for a week now and my net is incredibly slow.

Can't rule it out tbh.

And was actually thinking along those lines unless feckers started calling SAF a cnut.

Every player was supposed to wear the "Kick out Racism" t-shirts during warm up this weekend as directed by FA.

Jason Roberts said he won't fecking wear it. SAF said he should wear and support the campaign in some pre game conference.

Rio didn't wear in in spite of Fergie saying all my players will.

Its a big issue in media now and Fergie said he is embarrassed and will deal with Rio in his post match interview.

Something I like that I remember in my drunken state.Might have missed a couple of details.

And now some fans are calling SAF an idiot, a cnut and someone calling him to leave for all this.

In fairness, Fergie has dug himself a bit of a hole here. He can't let it slide because that would make him look weak, but if he tries to punish Ferdinand officially, and the player chooses to make an issue of it ..... he's on shaky ground.

Not that that will deter Fergie. *cough* Rock of Gibralter *cough*

If he's genuinely trying to force Rio to wear anti-racism shirts against his will in order to protect his own ego and his right to make pathetic digs at Jason Roberts and his efforts to fight racism then he is acting a cnut, there's no getting away from it. Putting aside your ethics for people who help your club is what leads to the defences of Suarez and Terry, people should be applauded for not falling into that trap, not slated for it.

The main issue I have with Rio is that he's either a hypocrite or an absolute feckwit, or both.

He's undermined the Kick It Out campaign more than most with his "choc-ice" comment. I don't really agree with Sir Alex's comments though.

I will say it again, people need to get their eyes on the real issue, racism in football, and not be distracted by this sort of thing. But for the pundits and many fans it is more comfortable talking about this nonsense then focusing on the real issue. This should be no more than a foot note, a minor thing. It should not be the center of attention.

SAF will deal with the team issue and I expect it to be not a big deal.

Agreed.

Looking at some of the papers, the story appear to be over. They met, Ferdinand apologized for not giving Fergie the heads up, there won't be any disciplinary action and that's that.

Rooney? Even Scholes, refusing to play in the Carling Cup once.

There is no way anything serious will come of this. It'll be forgotten by next week.

You mean laughing at someone saying 'choc-ice'. It would be far different if he actually called someone 'Choc-Ice'. Hmm I feel like Cottees Ice magic...

Given the huge coverage, I'd say Rio generated the awareness he was hoping for.

It may be abit stretched, but given how media savvy SAF and Rio are, one can't help but suspect this is some kind of media set up.

If not, sincerely hope Rio and SAF quickly work out a compromise which allows SAF to save face and so mob on from this petty saga and both concentrate on the real problem: the unacceptable use of racism in football and indeed modern day Britain.

Well this has spiralled out of control a bit.

It hasn't even remotely "spiralled out of control". Because the seagulls are having a feeding frenzy and some drama queens on a forum are over-reacting doesn't mean that Fergie will do likewise.

Having had a look at it. I thought the same. Fergie maintain's his "I am the boss" image and Rio gets kudos for being a runaway skamp with a little publicity.

Fergie's not a moron. I am sure behind closed doors he had a word to Rio.

The only sensible solution if true.

You can be a fan of the club and SAF without necessarily being completely obtuse and ultra biased in your logic. This way of thinking is so flawed I find it surprising you're coming with it in a holier-than-thou manner.
It's not an issue of backing up the player over the greatest manager, SAF can be wrong and can make mistakes even if they're rare.

The players, FA, SAF, all have to do something regarding Racism, and all the issue aside, they're doing their best.

It's easy for us to say otherwise in an internet forum, but do you fecking expect Terry to get jailed for 1 month? Seriously, He got caught, got fined, and suspended. WTF does Rio expect more?

He can feck off for all I care if he decided to kick up a fuss with SAF over this. They got paid millions, and it's not like exactly Rio got racist attack of any sort, this whole fecking racist bullshit is getting out of hand.

It's Terry and Suarez vs. Evra and Anton, it's not like the whole FA is a bigotry racist. Punishment have been dealt with, I don't see anything wrong with what the FA are doing honestly.

it's a bit far-fetched to suggest that SAF and Rio have contrived this but really, it's a storm in a teacup and the media are going apeshit because Fergie doesn't normally give em much to get excited about, so they're merely being their usual idiot selves. On the other hand, I think the least that can be said though, is that Rio isn't doing himself any favours given his recent form - although, tbh, I do sympathize to a large degree with his stance. The best thing he can do is get his game together because with four centre backs on the books besides him, injuries aside, we're not exactly dependent on him in his current form, twittering and now distractions such as this.

Just read this on BBC.

Viv Powers on Twitter: "Rio is an employee of MUFC, Ferguson is his manager. Rio doesn't do as his manager tells him = gross misconduct = the sack."

:wenger:

 twitter really is a complete and utter waste of time.
