Russian invasion of Ukraine | Fewer tweets, more discussion

“Certainly I think there is a calculation in the Kremlin that Russia is more resilient than the West,” said Thomas E. Graham, a distinguished fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, who served as senior director for Russia on the National Security Council from 2004 to 2007.

“They do think about these electoral cycles,” Mr. Graham said. “Who knows what is going to happen in 2024 in the United States? It’s not clear where the American people are on this over the long run. I think the Kremlin and Putin do believe that in that sense, time is on their side.”

Surprise surprise.

I bet Kadyrov cried behind the curtains directly to Putin to spare his tiktok army which is way too weak and pathetic to fight against Ukraine's heroic defenders. And because Putin needs him to keep Chechnya in line, he granted him that wish and ordered Shoigu to supply Wagner again.
I can't wait for Ukraine's counteroffensive, so hopefully those war criminals start blaming each other and their whole circus implodes.

Cant they just send the doubles?
If a double dies it becomes obvious that it was a double and the whole scheme can't be used any more. Using doubles is a resasonable safety measure, but it is also a calculated risk, because a dead double requires you to admit that you were scared of dying in that event. That's not what someone like Putin wants to have to do.

The Russian president too scared to show himself in Moscow. What a shambolic state that country is in.

The peak of his cowardice (so far). How they are still willing to die for him and his imperialistic ego, while he is even afraid to show himself right in front of the Kremlin at the same time is beyond my understanding. Irradiated people.

I think the blame game will happen relatively quickly once the Ukrainians unexpectedly take back more territory in a shortly time than most previously thought possible.

Sort of reinforces that the guy who walked around Mariupol recently visiting people's apartments was definitely not the real Vlad.

Peskov didn't say that though. It's a made up quote from a random account.

I wouldn't be surprised if Putin chickens out but so far the latest that Peskov has said (3 days ago) was that Putin will be there.

Thanks. It would be quite conspicuous if he weren't to show up for such a big event.

Watching all these trench videos only reinforces that Ukrainian gains are likely to come much slower than many might expect. I would imagine half of southern Kherson oblast is mined to the gills, especially as one nears Crimea.

That's interesting. The US intelligence breach recently showed that US intelligence services are concerned about the coming offensive and doubt whether Ukraine can regain significant territory. I believe after the leak there was a lot of pushback from Ukrainian officials on that line of thinking, but now they seem to be demonstrating those same concerns. There is a lot of interesting messaging going on right now on both sides. I can't tell what are truths and what are attempts at 4-D chess

Logically, it will be slow for UA to gain territories. RA troops have kind of stopped being bad, basically, and they have time to prepare for defense in many places. If UA tried to attack and cut them off in the middle of the map, I think it would be bad for them as they would get attacked by multiple sides. IMO, they should start clearing from the north-east side. Going to Crimea now sounds like a pipe dream.

Because Ukraine hits their military targets, Russia answers as always with civilian terror.

What happened to the guy, he went completely mental?
Long time ago. He adores Putin, I think he even got the Russian citizenship at some point.

Let's hope more people like him start to talk like that. That's the only way by propaganda irradiated people start realizing no one will win or even benefit from this war. Especially Russia, so the sooner they leave, the better for everyone.

Wouldn't be surprised if he well through the window soon sadly.

It's a step forward but only because they're losing so badly and it's likely effecting his monies.
If they were winning, he'd be happily cheering along while they commit genocide.

The good old days when there seemed to be a bit of balance on the issues. No wonder Putin got rid of him.
