Tevez

I still have strong doubts about Tevez and Berbatov, particularly as neither have any pace that troubles defenders. I would be more keen to play Tevez if he had looked threatening whenever he has come on, but to me he never has done.

With a level-head I probably would want him to start with Rooney though but I doubt he will. Reason being I don't think he will be here next Summer.

Rooney doesn't have much pace either. His movement's a lot better but Rooney and Tevez are very different in style and Tevez doesn't need to use his movement with the way he plays. Tevez works best in tight spaces and isn't afraid to try and get involved in a congested situation whereas Rooney uses his movement to get in behind because he works better when he's given space.

Ronaldo provides enough of that on his own though, and there's no harm in trying.

Might as well make the most of him while he's still here though, seeing as he's a quality player.

Jeez. Strange thread. What's with all the fan-boyzzz staying up so late, on a school night?

Tevez played well tonight. Good on him. But we've always known he's a class player. Unfortunately for him, he had a chance to hold down a place when Berbatov was injured but didn't take it. We all saw in the derby how much more of a goal threat we were than in the previous couple of games.

I seriously doubt what was basically a reserve team game has changed the pecking order up front. He'll get another chance to impress for the first-team, sooner or later. It's up to him to play like he did tonight when he next gets that chance.

Now feck off and watch cbeebies, the lot of ye :smirk:

Berbatov fanboy.

;)

 at people still trying to pick holes in it.

Typical Caf over reaction as usual:
1.Blackburn's defence was unbelievably bad!
2.His first goal was more of an own goal and quite lucky
3.The penalty was quite soft and his kick looked predictable, can't believe robinson went the other way.
4.His third goal was given to him really and anderson should have scored himself, unselfish from ando, shame tevez couldn't do the same a bit later on.

Mind you his 4th goal was pretty good and he looked quite good but this performance was against a blackburn side who really were awful in defence. To say that he should now be signed for whatever ridiculous figure and should now start based on this performance is ludicrous.

God I really do have a dislike for him:(

No.

Rooney does have more pace than either Tevez or Berbatov and he does have enough pace to trouble most defenders barring the exceptional pace ones. Anton Ferdinand has a fair amount of pace so maybe Rooney won't trouble him too much in that respects but the latter's pace in acceleration is up there with the best at the club.

Tonight's game apart Tevez has been largely ineffective in and around the box. Berbatov seems to do be instructed to drift away so I still doubt how effective they would be against a defence that remains compact.

Twice South American footballer of the year.

Rated very highly by none other than Maradona.

Almost single handedly kept a shite West Ham in the premiership.

Was integral in us winning the CL & PL last season.

Was without dought the best United player pre and early season apart from a couple of games before being systematicaly dropped for Berbatov.

Ye... see where your coming from.

feck's sake, it's not Tevez's fault for being in the right position for a pass from Anderson, or making a good run to win that penalty and then converting it.

Oh God I'm being shot down by the cum of the "tevez brigade". I hope he starts against sunderland and he'll obviously set the place on fire right?:smirk: Its not like this was against a frankly awful team tonight is it?

Nope, Sam, you've always punched above your weight, when it comes to age.

It was aimed at all the giddy kids, thinking that using loads of exclamation marks, smilies and youtube clips somehow makes their opinion carry more weight.

Oh right, cheers mate.

I just though, what with the reference to age, it was directly aimed at me. I'm pleased it wasn't. :)

The only way Tevez plays against Sunderland is if Fergie decides to play him at the same time as Rooney and Berbatov.

Sadly, whenever we've tried that in the past (usually in the closing stages of games) it's been a shapeless mess.

Tevez was our best player during pre-season. He was in good form before Berbatov signed, him sitting on the bench recently is not due to his poor performances. I can't stand people saying he's been benched because of his dip in form.

SAF knows Tevez is class, he is either giving Berbatov time to adapt or he is playing games with Tevez's owners.

4 goals in one match against a premiership side at pretty much their full strength is not a reserve match.

Berbatov has 2 premier league goals this season, Rooney 4. He deserves another chance immediately.

Nah, you and Brwned have been fighting the good fight for teenagers for a while now.

If it wasn't for the pair of ye, I'd be campaigning to make this place strictly over 18s :)

Answer me this. Which do you think is the more likely?

1.Only won it due to the much better players not playing in the argentinian league and playing abroad.
2.Richardson also single handedly kept west brom up......don't go there.
3.No he played a part but any other good player could have done the same (intergral is too strong a word)
4."PRESEASON" against a bunch of shite teams, says its all.

I'm not saying he's slow and his pace is undoubtedly on another level compared to Berbatov or Tevez. But Ronaldo compensates for that lack of pace in the team anyway.

I think playing them two together would encourage them to adapt their roles slightly in that both Berbatov and Tevez should push forward a bit more at different times and could help them become even more threatening. Or they might end up just playing as midfielders with Ronaldo doing all the attacking.

Can't be sure, but I've wanted to see Berbatov and Tevez given a crack at forging a partnership for a while now, and they've not been given many chances(which is fair enough considering the form of Berbatov and Rooney and the fact Berbatov was injured).

Why the f'ck would Blackburn not try to put in a good performance, this was a cup quater final game was it not.

I've posted some quite idiotic things in my time on here, but your posts on Tevez in this thread tops anything I've seen anyone type on any of our players in terms of being utterly ridiculous.

fergie should be playing all four from the start in a 4-2-3-1, its the formation which most suits the likes of berbs, anderson, tev, and ronaldo...

3 goals actually. 1 of which was a penalty and one of which was put on a plate for him by Anderson. And it was a home game against an understrength team, whose first XI are in free-fall.

Tevez played well but a bit of fecking perspective, please.

We've been playing that formation all season.

As good as he was against Blackburn lets not forget the Villa game where to be fair he had his worst game for us. Thats exactly the problem with Tevez. His form this season so far has been utterly rubbish!

I've been very harsh on Tevez over the last few weeks, i'm extremely happy to see him prove me wrong. Lets just hope that he keeps banging them in. What does SAF do for Sunderland though? Surely Tevez has to play now.

I think certain people also need to realise that teams often have a different mentality in Cup matches then they do in the League.

Precisely, i like Tevez as much as the next United fan. But Rooney-Berbatov works. Tevez will get his chances, its a long season.

Some people are going OTT over his performance.

Well thank you.

Have you noticed how i have the tag-line "tevez hater" and I admitted pretty much this in my first post and then even talked about how tevez took his penalty;)

Sshhh I'm not tevez's biggest fan but I don't hate him THAT much

So Sam where were we?.....oh yeah tevez sucks at football lol!

You might want to take a look at the number of quality players that do play in the Argentinian league. Winning it three times in a row is a fecking brilliant achievement and you shouldn't be downplaying it.

And he was one of our best players in the second half of last season, do doubt about it.

I think Tevez will atleast come on as a sub. Not to foget berbatov just got back from a niggling hamstring injury the last game, so hopefully Tevez will get chance to play.

I believe a committee will decide whether its 3 or 4. Regardless, it puts him in very good stead.

The side he played against werent understrength. They were the best side Ince could have put out.

Berbatov has scored against West Brom and Stoke so far in this league season. Their defences are no better than Blackburn's.

The sides Rooney has scored against are a lot more impressive though.
