The Championship 2018/19 - Play-off final

Norwich got in the bag by now, then i don't know who is going up between Leeds and Sheffield United. It seems no one wants to get promoted

Shame on Leeds United for fecking up their automatic promotion chances. Would be great to finally see a Bristol club in the Prem though. The PL definitely needs representation from that region. Wouldn't bet against Brictol City to make it though the playoffs.

Pulis finally winning a game of football as well. Oh and congrats to Norwich. All but assured of going up. Delia will be pleased.

Leeds go 2nd after beating Preston. Blackburn, Bristol City, Sheffield Wednesday, Swansea and Middlesbrough win as well.

A much needed win over playoff chasing Derby, after our terrible run of form during the past 2 and a bit months. Hopefully we can kick on and the end the season in decent form.

Joe Rothwell was outstanding and ran riot all night. He needs to start regularly.

Rothwell’s a former United lad right?

You have had a good season overall, imo. Thought you would have fought not to get relegated at the start of the season. If you had a good summer you could fight for the playoffs next season.

Yes that’s correct. He’s a Manchester lad, spent his entire youth career at United going on loan a couple of times, then left for Oxford and spent a couple of seasons there before we signed him last summer.

He is an exciting talent, with excellent speed and dribbling ability, and he ran the show yesterday. He has been in and out of our team this season, but hopefully will start regularly until the end of the season. We just need to link up with him better, as often he has spent a lot of time running from side to side chasing the ball.

I agree overall it has been a positive season, and I’m happy with the job Mowbray has done. Under his watch many disillusioned fans have reconnected with the club and players. And we do have a pretty strong youth academy, especially given how many clubs there are in the North West competing for the same players.

The gulf between the Championship and League One has increased in recent years, highlighted by Wigan, ourselves and Rotherham all winning instant promotion last season, and the financial power of many of the teams in the division including Middlesbrough and Derby who are both outside the top 6. It’s a very tough and manic division.

I guess when a team has an excellent first half and a bit of the season, and then falls away and struggles during the rest of the season, fans get more frustrated and think about what could have been achieved, than if it happened the other way around.

Massive win for Villa. Imagine West Brom vs Villa for promotion

Norwich should have won today and they would have been basically promoted, but it is always difficult when you face a side who is fighthing to stay up. Luckily for them, Sheffield United seem to have run out of gas at the worst time of the season.

Hope that's the semi final then and the winner goes on to lose the final. I do not want parachute payments to be rewarded too much.

Not at all. It's just the competitive nature of Championship football. Leeds and Sheffield United have been swapping places for a while now.

Not to mention they were also away to Birmingham: a side fighting for survival and beat Leeds four days prior.

The 2019 gold ball race will belong to Messi or Ronaldo. I believe CR7 is winer.

Fair point. I'd love to see Leeds up, as they have been missing from the Premier League since 2004.

Sure its villas last year of parachute payments they'll be in a lot of financial trouble if not promoted this year.

Villa take the lead with a 55th minute pen, Derby 3-0 up too.

23 goals & 2 assists for Tammy Abraham this season in 35 Championship games. Not bad at all.

Uh oh, Bristol get one back against Villa.

Normally I couldn’t imagine wanting Leeds to do well, as like many people I strongly dislike them.

However the twin factors of Bielsa who I’m a big fan of being at the helm, and the intrigue of seeing Leeds back in the Premier League after a 15 year absence and livening the place up, are enough for me to want them to get promoted.

A pleasant surprise that we won away to Forest yesterday, only our second away win in our last 15 matches on the road, although we do have an excellent record at the City ground. Rothwell was influential again, and is a real talent.

Hope Villa don't cock it up versus Bolton.

Bristol losing with 30 minutes to go puts them at risk of losing that 6th spot. If it stays like this, Derby overtake them & end the weekend in the final play-off position.

(Hoping it happens. I want Frank to come up if not Villa).

Stupid decision by the ref. Then Sheffield score.

Forest hard done to there

Bristol draw, meaning Villa have a 3 point buffer between them & 6th now

Has Dean Henderson played well for Sheffield United?

And do they have a good chance of getting promotion? Would be great to see him in the Prem next season.

4 goals in the first half of Blues/Derby. 2-2.

Villa really need to capitalize.
