The MMA thread

Can see Machida holding the belt for a very long time. His style's so unorthodox it's pretty much impossible for opponents to find good sparring partners. Rampage got outstuck by Forrest Griffin, he hasn't got a hope against Machida. I expect him to dominate the division like Anderson's done and move up to heavyweight in a couple of years!

I called it in my wall of text earlier in this thread.

Machida would make Evans look bad and drop him repeatedly with his sneaky straight left.

Was pretty sure that Machida would win but in this way? No. Lyoto was so dominant, and to all the people who said he had no KO power (not necessarily on this forum), well I wonder what they have to say now.

He is surgical with his strikes and he doesn't get hit. I can't see him losing in a long time to be honest. Maybe Anderson Silva should go up in weight division and fight him - They are training partners, and if anyone knows how to beat Machida it will be him..

well silva is fighting forest next...

If he wins that (and that will be a tough fight imo) then he might be in line foe the winner of jackson vs macheda

Really enjoyed 98. Was very let down by 97, but im glad this was better.

Dissapointed Serra lost. I think Hughes is a fecking knob. Not a bad fight either.

Lyoto was very very impressive. I reckon the absolute dream UFC match up at the moment would be Anderson Silva v Lyoto. It would be incredible.

Drew McFedries has absolute dynamite in his gloves.

Really impressed with Frankie Edgar too. Only ever saw one of his fights, against Tyson Griffin, and thought he was excellent that night too.

Me too. Originally I thought Serra was a bit of a dick, and that Hughes was the "good guy", but I've changed my mind a bit there. Serra doesn't really seem to be such a bad guy, he's just very vocal. While Hughes seems to be unable to get off his high horse.

When I saw the footage of Hughes taking the piss out of GSP on the ultimate fighter I really lost respect for him. Asking if GSP wanted to be shown how to get out of an armbar. Twat. Had to laugh at Serra, coming out to the Rocky music

Can't wait until 100

Mir vs Lesnar
GSP vs Alves
Bisping vs Henderson

May turn out to be UFC 99 if the Germans get their way. They've banned all violent computer games and are looking to ban UFC, using the 'human cockfighting' argument.

Can't wait for it, whatever it will be called. Mir's under a lot of pressure and will be forced to fight regardless if 100% fit or not. If he's fit, I'd back him to take it. GSP's smothering tactics won't be easy to implement cos Thiago's a beast, the strongest WW out there, the kid cuts 30lbs for a fight! Looking forward to this fight the most.

It's called UFC 100: Lesnar v Mir

I fancy Wanderlei to KO Franklin and Kongo KO Velasquez in 99.

100 is the one I'm waiting for though

Velasquez has serious potential. He only has 5 or 6 fights under his belt though. It was very early for the UFC to put him up against somebody of the quality of Kongo.

If Mir is 100% fit, he will submit Lesnar. From what I have been reading, it doesn't look like he will be. I'm sure even if Lesnar does beat him that he will get another shot.

GSP's quality should be enough against Alves. Although Alves is built like a shit brick house, he isn't really on GSP's level. It should be good though, as Alves would be too strong for GSP to simply dominate.

.

yeah there is a real lack of quality hw in the ufc

i knid of home that lesnar wins... just because that might just tempt fedor to show them who the best hw is

Kimbo on the Ultimate Fighter  all or nothing for him. Should be great ratings and money for UFC...100% sure he won`t be fighting the first week.

Shogun is getting a shot at Machida at 104. Bit of a joke, Shoguns only beaten 2 pensioners. Surely it should be the winner of Bisping/Hendo who gets a shot?

Shogun on top form would give Machida a great match. However, Shogun hasn't had that form in a couple of years due to different injuries.

I've never seen any of his Pride fights, apart from the highlite reels they've shown on UFC. I've seen the Griffin fight, the Coleman and Liddell ones. He never really impressed me too much. He looked slow and sluggish against Coleman, and fair enough he knocked out Liddell, but that shot wouldn't have beaten him 3 or 4 years ago. Interesting to see if he does reach top form, I hope he does.

ok 1stly shogun was awsome in pride... unfortunatley what he was best at was completly bypassing guard and booting people in the head when they were down... which unfortunatley he cant do in the ufc... shame but he destroyed rampage... and with forrest fighting silva and rampage busy with tuf 10 i guess rua is the logical opponent

but remember rua at his best is an wasome fighter... a great striker who has also won the south american bjj championship and is still only 27...

do you remember the rampage fight?

but as he is ranked 5th and as i say forrest is fighting anderson silva, evans has just been defeted and jackson is commited to tuf he is the logical opponent

2ndly regarding henderson and bisping... erm arent they fighting at 185lbs not 205lbs... perhaps the winner might get a shot at anderson silva (if he continies to fight in both divisions)... though i think the winner of maia vs marquet will also have a good claim to take the next shot at silva

I do miss the old boot to the head... certainly discouraged people from just laying on the ground (ala leites... he would have his head kicked off in pride!)

 Kimbo, you guys seen that video when he pays somebody to let him rugby tackle them.

winner of bisping vs hendo is deffinatley getting a title shot at anderson silva later in the year...

dana also said the uk would get a title bout held here this year as well... so if bisbing wins then it must be on the cards that the fight would take place at the o2
