In what way? We play better football with Welbeck in the team, his hold up play is better, he can dribble better, his passing is better etc. Hernandez is superior with his movement in the box and his nack of scoring goals.
Welbeck also had a good season last year, though it got interrupted by injuries. Don't get me wrong, I like Hernandez as much as anyone, but I don't let that get in the way of identifying his weaknesses, of which there are a few. It's not always going to be plain sailing for him and when he goes through a bad spell, it is then that these weaknesses will be massively highlighted. He needs to continue to develop his game if he is to be considered first choice. Welbeck is already snapping at his heels.
He was terrible by his standards. If he hadn't scored then I'd say it was the worst performance that I've seen from him. I'm not saying that everyone else is perfect with their passing, but most would have put that pass on a plate for Welbeck 9/10 times, it was an easy pass.
That cross field ball was the exception rather than the rule. If you can't see that Hernandez's passing, and a few other attributes, are currently below par then there isn't much I can say. It's quite obvious. Thankfully, his game doesn't rely on this in the slightest, though our attack is better if both our strikers are comfortable/dangerous on the ball.
I thought you said vs Everton.
