It's not political correctness that's stopped discourse and intelligent debate, it's having most of the media being influenced by the likes of Murdoch and Dacre.
I agree not offending minorities is an issue, but the Rotheram case is one extremely horrible example and it certainly isn't down to "PC gone mad". It's hopefully something we can get around.
Political correctness isn't always ideal but I don't expect it to be the rallying cry of a PM though unless all they are trying to do is dog-whistle to their base.

Was that the case with the decades of Catholic Church abuses? Or those from within the CofE?
Reports into it have criticised police for being unwilling to go the full hog in those particular rape cases and being unwilling to tackle some minority communities (which is a bit of a contradiction when you see stats that show minorities get it worse from the police). So there is definitely a case to be made that the police should do better. But I don't see how calling brown people paki's is going to help.
Or the British media & government for that matter.

Investigating events like Rotherham is like sticking a hand in the hornet's nest, with the liberal media poised to excoriate them at every turn.
A McCarthyite atmosphere prevails, with calls of 'racist' replacing those of 'communist'. Show trials are conducted in the media of those unfortunate enough to be caught making politically incorrect comments, who are then forced to publicly recant their heresies. People are subject to public vilification, often resulting in the loss of reputation and livelihood, for the crime of the private exercise of free speech.
Donald Trump has many unattractive qualities, but one great virtue: his refusal to knuckle under to the liberal mandarins who presume to dictate to us what to think and what to say. If Andrea Leadsom can do the same, she might be worth a vote.
I agree that Political correctness won't ever go away. Largely because at times it is necessary. The point of a just society is to have the right balance between when it is fair such as in a general work place and being welcoming of others and when it's gone overblown like the police bowing to political pressure.
I don't think she'll propose a banning of all Muslims coming here, so you might be out of luck.

She comes across as more conceited Thatcher.
I can't believe she would resort to the motherhood card. Having loads more experience in politics might possibly be a more important edge for May.
