Who is going to be the Next Prime Minister of the UK? | Be your stubborn best

Have a feeling she'll get it too with the 'WE WANT OUR BREXITTT NAO AND KICK OUT ALL DEM FOREIGNERS' mob voting her in.
She's already stated that any immigrants in the UK right now can remain hasn't she?

Don't think when the Tories said they were awash with talent to succeed Cameron. They were talking about Leadsom and May.

Political correctness allowed hundreds of girls in Rotherham and across the UK to be raped and treated like animals. It may be fashionable to defend political correctness and quote Stewart Lee, I would much rather defend free speech.

It's not political correctness that's stopped discourse and intelligent debate, it's having most of the media being influenced by the likes of Murdoch and Dacre.

I agree not offending minorities is an issue, but the Rotheram case is one extremely horrible example and it certainly isn't down to "PC gone mad". It's hopefully something we can get around.

Political correctness isn't always ideal but I don't expect it to be the rallying cry of a PM though unless all they are trying to do is dog-whistle to their base.

Really? I thought it was a gang of rapist animals that allowed that to happen.

Reports into it have criticised police for being unwilling to go the full hog in those particular rape cases and being unwilling to tackle some minority communities (which is a bit of a contradiction when you see stats that show minorities get it worse from the police). So there is definitely a case to be made that the police should do better. But I don't see how calling brown people paki's is going to help.
Was that the case with the decades of Catholic Church abuses? Or those from within the CofE?
Or the British media & government for that matter.

Political correctness is a direct expression of liberal intolerance and, however hopeful you may be, it won't go away by itself. Like any cancer, it's more likely to grow.

All across the Western world the media routinely lies to its consumers because to tell the truth would be to 'encourage racism'.

Even institutions like the police are paralysed by fear of racism accusations and are under political pressure to show their anti-racist credentials by downplaying any links between minorities and crime. Investigating events like Rotherham is like sticking a hand in the hornet's nest, with the liberal media poised to excoriate them at every turn.

A McCarthyite atmosphere prevails, with calls of 'racist' replacing those of 'communist'. Show trials are conducted in the media of those unfortunate enough to be caught making politically incorrect comments, who are then forced to publicly recant their heresies. People are subject to public vilification, often resulting in the loss of reputation and livelihood, for the crime of the private exercise of free speech.

Donald Trump has many unattractive qualities, but one great virtue: his refusal to knuckle under to the liberal mandarins who presume to dictate to us what to think and what to say. If Andrea Leadsom can do the same, she might be worth a vote.

I agree that Political correctness won't ever go away. Largely because at times it is necessary. The point of a just society is to have the right balance between when it is fair such as in a general work place and being welcoming of others and when it's gone overblown like the police bowing to political pressure.

I don't think she'll propose a banning of all Muslims coming here, so you might be out of luck.

Well this thread's gone to f*ck lately...

May currently leads by approx 2:1 on polls of Tory members. Including an impressive survey that investigated specific categories of perceived competence/suitability - y'know, leadership, experience, ability to unite party & so forth. Would link, but can't find it again, :(.

Andrea Leadsom says criticism of her CV is 'ridiculous', and she didn't have to put up with this nonsense when she was an astronaut.

At least the next PM (for the next 4 years) would have been democratically voted for by the UK, haha, which is what they so desired.

Hope it's Leadsom purely to see how she can manage to dig herself out the dire situation she's been at least partially responsible for due to the absolute drivel she has been spouting for the past few months

Jesus christ Leadsom is a properly nasty piece of work, I'm not fond of May by any means but using her infertility against her ffs.

She comes across as more conceited Thatcher.

Pretty shit from The Times as well to give it such an uncritical airing.

I can't believe she would resort to the motherhood card. Having loads more experience in politics might possibly be a more important edge for May.
I see it as a desperate (and very low) tactic, chief - May appears miles ahead, judging by R1 & R2 voting.

What an utter bitch. Hope she doesn't win.

Leadsom's now denying she made the comments and demanding the transcript be released, she's proper fecked if they release it now and it backs up.

She'll just mention fox hunting and her invisible friend again and the Tories will lap it up.

This whole thing has been great! BoJo the Clown living up to the lyrics of Eton Rifles, Pob stabbing BoJo in the back for absolutely feck all, the gay curer apparently sexting a 20 something year old woman behind his wife's back and now this. I can't wait for series 2!
