Hope it's just Twitter -shit.

There are millions of jobs in the UK at the moment, I get emailed about 400 a day. There are just too many scumbags who don't fancy the type of work that's available. Turn their nose up at the jobs and live sponging off the state because they can't be arsed.

No disorder or riots in Manchester. Speculation about ongoing riots totally inaccurate. GMP monitoring the situation.
THERE's NOTHING GOING ON IN MANCHESTER
Part time workers, those in education, apprenticeships, even unpaid work, don't get included in unemployment statistics. And its currently at 30% for 16 to 64's National Statistics Online - Unemployment
I'm amazed it that high it doesn't seem right.Mental
I did mean take the criticism after there have been heads cracked , this cant go much long .
It is spreading across London and if let soon across the country , I remember that last country wide riots in 85 and it was not nice.
It should have been stopped 2 days ago, but now I would say it is a State of Emergency.

5000 police on duty for royal wedding. 1400 tonight.
That's not really an accurate report of the situation, unemployment rate includes those who can't be arsed. It's not as if all those 30% are actively looking for work is it?
Go on Google and search 'jobs in xxx' and bang, you'll get hundreds, you can work in a call centre ffs, if you're desperate for a job you'll do it, they are constantly hiring, there are jobs out there. The problem is and I see it all the time is people saying 'nah can't be arsed with that kind of work' or thinking they are too good for the work so instead they'll sit around and do nothing and then complain there aren't any jobs out there. It's BS.
Secondly, if you're getting emailed 400 jobs per day, how large is your skillset? Even more to the point, how come you're expressing no interest in these jobs? Are they not suitable? Just because someone offers you a job doesn't make it suitable. If you were unemployed for whatever reason, would you take on a year's contract at minimum wage gutting fish? Don't be so judgemental mate!
Thirdly, and this is apparently going to surprise you, but earning £100 every two weeks isn't comfortable living. Don't get me wrong, some people do indeed sponge off the system, but it's not the first choice for the majority. Some people are on jobseeker's allowance because they're seeking a job and need money to tide them over.

On the bright side, maybe the UK can no longer afford poxy wars in the Middle East and Asia.

BBC reporting its started in Manchester
That is stupid, but there should be a written test to become a parent instead of just the physical
someone on twitter says it's started in Gorton now !![]()
...and market street manchester
I'm not so naive as to think Livingstone isn't politicking but I think some of you guys should look at it more closely. If he's trying to get publicity then he'll be peddling a point of view that's in his interest, right? In this instance, the left-wing vote.
On that note, he's been very much spot on today. The points he's raising are bang on, IMO. While everyone else is out condemning this, lying to us all about various things and pretending to know their crap, Livingstone's speaking something that resonates with me as the truth.
Zarlak, I'm not really sure what the relevance of your comments are? What are your qualifications? How much do these jobs pay? Can you live in London on those wages? There are so many questions to be asked.
More importantly, this isn't an issue about someone being shot dead by the police. Or people out of work or with nothing to do. If it was ever was about that, it stopped being that a long time ago. These are just knobs out looking for trouble and a a bit of fun.

I fecking hate Ken Livingstone, Trying to politicize a terrible series of events for his own political gain is nothing short of disgraceful.
got a mate in toxteth, said it's kicked off big time, gunfire, petty bombs, heading down to the city centre.
Because I have a job, I just can't be arsed to unregister to each individual website that emails me. It doesn't mean the jobs are not out there. If I were unemployed and desparate for work I wouldn't sit around complaining there wasn't any work availible that I was happy with (I'm not saying you are by the way, this is generalising the typical unemployed chavs you see around) I'd take what I could get and have an income while I looked for something I enjoyed or I thought was suitable. You can always hand in your notice if the right one comes up. Maybe there aren't the jobs out there we would like, but it's BS to say there are no jobs out there.
Who said 100 every 2 weeks? You only have to google 'jobs in manchester' 'jobs in london' to find 13k, 16k, 18k, 20k, 25k jobs in call centres, shopping assistants, bar work etc.

Well said. People here simply saw the name 'Ken Livingstone', heard an opinion, and were quick to demonise him.
For the record I thought he was spot on, opportunistic or not.
