Liverpool v Manchester United

Have they got the paperwork mixed up and the bench is our starting line up and the line up that has been given are our subs!

So much for my bet on Rooney first goalscorer and 3-0

We're going to keep it tight. And it sounds as if Rooney's not in the right frame of mind.

Fergie says Jones in CM. Rooney had a bad week so that's why he is on the bench. Nothing to do with the crowd. Team starting is those with the most confidence. Fresh legs like Park, Rio, Smalling, Evans.

Fergie: "Wayne has had a bad week. He's devastated by his suspension. I just felt with these circumstances he should be on the bench"

A little surprised with the team, but after what nearly 25 years of Fergie's team selections why oh why do we still panic???

Anyway, with that bench Fergie's not going to look in his phone to call for the Scouse Busters if in need is he...

Who said the Red would be good for United?

SAF: "Wayne was devastated with the suspension. I just felt with all the circumstances that he's better starting on the bench.

I also think that we have to keep in mind that Fergie is also taking into account the recent defensive frailties on our part, recently. All things said, going to Anfield on the back of those defensive troubles, makes sense to go with a 4-5-1 to contain and work hard.

No one could have predicted this lineup. We have 4 centrebacks and Carroll not stsrting .

I just worry Welbeck will be kept totally out of the game. On his own up front at Anfield the only player in our squad I trust to do a good job on his own up front is on the bench

He could well surprise you. He's a trickier player than you give him credit for.

SopCast just doesn't want to work for me today :S

I can see why Fergie made the decision he did, it makes sense as we wouldnt want Rooney to lose the head here today & with him having a bad week it was a possibility.

Taking Rooney out of the firing line today is the correct decision for me, it will help us in the long haul and he'll be chomping at the bit for the City game where he'll be much more comfortable in front of his own fans.

Nah, leaving out your best player isn't a bottle job.

You're just Welsh.

Yes it is.

It's the same trick Wenger sometimes pulls at Old Trafford.

Get a result and it's a "masterstroke". Lose and you've got a ready made excuse.

Fergie's worried about the CL and City games so much he's left players out for a game against Liverpool (he wouldn't have needed to worry about the CL game if he hadn't treated the previous two as training excercises, btw)...We start the season looking like we've finaly grown a set of balls again, and it's taken less than ten games to revert back to type. Figures.

I want Roy Keane back.

feckin ell with all the doom mongers on here is there any point in going to the boozer to watch the game?

Course there is 0 - 2 Young, Park

Come on United, stuff these scouse cnuts

I'm quite excited about this selection! Remember playing 7 defenders against that shitty little team? Er...was it Arsenal? Anyway, that selection was a head-scratcher at the time and it turned out to be genius.

In Fergie We Trust!

What "type" is this then? The one that won three league titles in four seasons?
