Yes. He's anonymous for 90 minutes, gets one half chance, and scores. So yes, he is a constant threat.CR stays on the edge to score. That's it. He can be anonymous for 90s minutes.
Is he consistent threat?

Not really, he comes across as arrogant and a complete plonker. 'Winners' don't go on a massive whine after not being able to win a game against inferior opposition over 90+ minutes.I don't have a problem with his remarks after the game. The guy is passionate and wants to win at all costs. I wish that attitude would have rubbed off on some of our players last season. We all say things in the heat of the battle, it's human nature and emotions. He was probably more disappointed in his own performance and that was what was eating away at him

You reckon he's "pulling a Jose" and saying that to take all the bad press on himself instead of the squad?Just saw his comments and as a neutral he just came across as incredibly small time and up himself. He's one of the best players in the world, playing for a decent national team and he puts the blame for not winning on a tiny opponent? That's pretty pathetic. Jose did the same kind of thing a few times when he was with us, and it always made me cringe.
He's a highlights player. Most people don't watch him play they just see 2 mins of action of a whole 90 minute match and because he scored a couple of tap ins he is this amazing unbelievable player.
Messi neither. Does it make Suarez better footballer than Messi? Is Mexes better than both?CR has never scored a bicycle kick despite trying multiple times to.
Such a tosser!
Then again, I guess that sore loser mentality has helped spur him on throughout the years.
Did you watch the game?
Skipped past whoever was marking him at least 3 times
and he was constantly making darting runs and putting the defense under pressure. One moment you see him below the circle, next moment he is in the box he was a threat the entire game and you can't ignore it. If you are too blind to see that then no point in pursuing this any further. (PS last time I checked Socidad was fecking team, but nice try with your Ronaldo Hate)
First off as a forward to be a threat is to be someone who will threaten a goal. Whether you are making a deep intelligent runs, or coming back deep to take the pressure from his teammates, or setting up a teammate by creating a chance in the final third, all of these classify as being a threat, and in every single game Ronaldo has played he has always done that, whether or not that threat escalates into a successful attack is up to him, but there are very few games where he has failed in that aspect IMO. Being a threat doesn't always mean scoring or assisting goals(otherwise through this newly discovered thing called common sense a threat) or dropping deep and making really good dribbling runs or looking for a scholes pass etc...One may not be as aesthetically pleasing as the other but they still qualify as a threat in respect to the forward role of a team. Football Basics 101.
Also it is a little bit unfair to hold the Barcelona greats and Ronaldo together without considering the fact that the style of play of both teams are quite drastically different as one side likes to dominate possession and one side is more inclined to react on the counter. Less possesion= Less opportunities for him to impact the game offensively.

He's petty, but doesn't deserve the slating he gets.

Look he's a good goalscorer one of the best to ever play the game but it doesn't change the fact that he is over rated because of it.To be fair those couple of tap ins can make or break the game. When England played against Russia there was a ball drifted into the 5 yard space and Dele Alli didn't predict that he could make that ball and he didn't make the run which Ronaldo would take and score a tap in. That tap in would've sealed the game for England and not a draw, but then again that goal would be considered as a tap in that any average player would score.

I couldn't care what Ronaldo does or how he plays if he wasn't called one of the best ever and better than Messi by a lot of fans.
It just drives me nuts how people are so quick to praise him when he scores a goal and how he's amazing despite the fact he offers very little for his team and is not even comparable to the other guy.
I didn't say Nani was bad. Maybe it reads differently to how I meant. I was trying to imply that the better chances fell to him and he had more clear opportunities to decide the match. And that he should have. He was clearly Portugal's best attacker tonight.
Didn't Ronaldo have team mates as well that won 3 back to back tournaments?and can you even compare the two teams they play for? take nothing away from Madrid , but Barca have easily been the best and most consistent team in europe over the last 10 years. Under Pep they were regarded and rightly so as the greatest club side ever. The same team ( majority of the players at least) won 3 back to back international tournaments without Messi.
Are people really using words like over rated and past it to describe Ronaldo? having a laugh here.. not going into a debate between who is better or worse but to even think suggest Ronaldo is past it ridiculous!

Cristiano Ronaldo is the person with a small mentality, not the Iceland players

We’d recommend Ronaldo take a long hard look at himself in the mirror if we didn’t know that he already spends several hours a day doing exactly that
Many United fans like appropriating him as one of their own even for his achievements away from the club, so will defend him to the hilt but IMO he doesn't do enough to really belong in the creme de la creme of footballers discussion , scoring goals is fine but just too often he goes AWOL in important games. It's a legitimate criticism of him that people can only respond to with his goals per game ratio. He hasn't been that player since 2007 but you can't argue that it hasn't still worked out reasonably for him.
ronically I think that was one of his best Barcelona performances with the 14/15 3-1 Home win where he worked for the team, tracked back and was a team player. He didn't dominate Barcelona but he played very well for me. Created a chance for Bale, scored a goal, but was ineffective from deep. I think we have different definitions of dominating here. He wasn't constantly beating his man though. Of course he is a threat near the goal as are most of the great players. We are talking about the absolute greatest here which is my gripe. Cruijff, Pele, Maradona and Messi can drop deep and affect multiple phases of the game in ways CR just cannot. No shame in that. My gripe is when people say he is as good as these guys which he clearly isn't. Noone in their right mind would say he isn't a top player. I am comparing him to the absolute elite, cream of the crop in football here.
I honestly do. I love this man and he has a hunger that football has never seen, but when you are coming off a horrible game like that you have no right to attack the other team. Completely out of character imo.I don't have a problem with his remarks after the game. The guy is passionate and wants to win at all costs.
