Chelsea 2016/17 - Very Content

If he gets the chance!

He is one of the first from our crop of youth product loan players to really play well at a high level, so if anyone is going to get a chance, it's him.

Conte loves his defenders, so i'm pretty sure he will get his chance. :)

The new Bonucci maybe?

What was Conte thinking exactly? First, sat back at home and then waited till 80 minutes to make changes!

Chelski's decline continues ... a 2nd successive season outside the top 4 beckons methinks.

They're exactly like us so far.

Rigid. No cohesion. Rely on individual quality rather than a collective good performance.

And Conte is just as reactive as Mourinho.

They've been poor to start the season, similar to us. I can't remember Chelsea ever doing well with a bad/average start to the season. Usually they start on fire, build a big lead and then taper off across the line.

Matic, Oscar, Cahill and Ivanovic are simply not good enough to be starting every week for Chelsea.

They looked boring and crap.

Don't get why they bought Luiz, every time I watch him he looks like a Fifa player with a bug.

Exposed a bit against Liverpool.

Hazard and Costa starting the season in such stellar form, plus a soft early slate of matches, have papered over some real holes.

Credit to him for creating the goal but Matic as a box-to-box midfielder is just awful from an offensive standpoint. The only thing Oscar does particularly well for a 10 is tackle. Their backline is very suspect.

I think they need to get Fabregas back into the team in some capacity, although I imagine his confidence is at an all time low. They lack creativity and quality in the middle of the park. At some point Hazard and/or Costa will go through a bad run of form and they don't have the other players to provide an offensive spark when that happens.

Conte the fraud, will be found out week by week.

Running up and down the touch line like a dick won't cut it in this league.

They couldn't anyone of their prio's. If it were up to me i'd rather sign noone than him. He's more suited to playing as a defensive midfielder than a central defender.

Yet ANOTHER post on this forum declaring how a team will finish in 8 months time after 1 game. This thread was full of people saying Chelsea can win the league again a week ago. Embarrassing.

You're right, that is embarrassing!

Maybe so, but I was not one of them. My prediction for Chelski to finish outside the top 4 was stated before the season began.

I think they will be in the mix for top 4 but no better than that and I certainly wouldn't out money on it.

Yes and you find now is an appropriate time to put it in and the annoying thing is it's now a perfectly acceptable opinion on here. After their first loss of the season. Their first loss of the season and you claim ''their decline continues''

I found the appropriate time to put it in was before the season kicked off. I'm simply referring back to my prediction.

It's not just their first loss. It's a loss, at home, against the first decent team they've faced this season. And they've picked up 1 point from their last 2 games.

They also finished 10th last season, have not sorted out the problem with ageing players in their defence and have a manager who is new to the Prem.

So all in all I don't know why you apparently think a restating of my prediction of a non-top-4 finish is so "embarrassing".

I still think they have the potential to do so.

Nothing to get see here . Chelsea did play some good football but it was pretty late. They lost to a "Goal of the season" . They will be alright !

Not sure why they are persisting with Oscar, he'll offer work-rate and run 11.5KM but will offer nothing creative. When you have the likes of Kante and Matic as your shield you should really be expecting more from your #10 and I say this from a team that starts Rooney as ours.

What does Oscar offer? He's underwhelming every time I see him play, and hasn't improved since he joined. Defensively he's better than Fabregas, but I'd much rather have him in there, he was the only one who wanted to get on the ball when he came on and tried to make something happen.

Ivanovic is past it now and needs replacing, move Azpilicueta to RB and go from there. Cahill is bang average as well, their defence is quite poor really. They will get top four no doubt, but don't think they will challenge for the title come April/May.

I don't understand why he picks Oscar over Fabregas when playing with two straight DMs in Kante and Matic. Conte seems a bit too cautious

Chelsea are in the same position as us.

They lost a lot of club legends and the players that replaced them just aren't good enough or just have the wrong attitude. Losing Lampard, Cole and Drogba whilst Terrys influence is waning is similar to us losing Giggs, Rio, Vidic and Scholes.

It's going to take time.

There were rumors that they rejected huge bid from Chinese club last season, should have sold him. Still not sure why he is ahead of Fabregas in the pecking order when Matic and Kante starts for them. Looks such a defensive move.

Fabregas is on another planet compared to Oscar.

It says something to me that coaches like Mourinho and Conte has choose Oscar over the more creative options.

Fabregas may be not good enough for 90 min but still can contribute a lot more in attack than Oscar.

They'll recover from this defeat. Conte will make them compete next season. They'll do well to make the top 4 this season.

I don't know. I always laugh when I see him. His movement, his playing style, just like a comic book character.

Definitely, very overrated players one and all, except perhaps matic but he hasn't played well in a season and a bit.

Their midfield really lacks balance both Kante and Matic are glorified stoppers and Oscar in front of them can't dictate a game for his life, its surprising they have started as well as they have done, I think they would be much better dropping Oscar and playing Fabregas CAM.

When on song, I think Chelsea play one of the best styles of football in the world. PSG too.

Last night wasn't as bad as has been made out but maybe that's because I'm a United fan and I didn't feel any emotion for their defeat.

They were awful. Only once they scored did they wake up a little for 10 minutes, but after that it was complete rubbish too. Liverpool looked gassed and could easily of got a draw but they just didn't string anything together.

The really late use of subs is pretty annoying.
I though so too y'day.
Correct me if I'm wrong because I haven't seen all your games, but you've been pretty underwhelming so far?

We've been better than last season but not as good as I think we can be.

Conte was never going to come in and straight away take us from 10th to 1st. I would not say I've been underwhelmed (other than last night), it's been pretty much as expected.

I would like to see a bit more imagination in his team selection and use of subs though.

Huh, chelsea for all their awfulness are a far greater and more important club than tottenham (no trophies) spurs

Understandable point of view from a young person in the north of England who has grown up in the Sky tv era.
