I mean you have to only go as far as Canada to see how well stricter gun laws and background checks actually work. But hey I guess they are just simply too polite to shoot people, which would never work in the US because you know secretly they are all giant arseholes.

Tell me about it. It's like we have more faith in America than themselves. "Gun control wouldn't work in America...we have a different culture...a violent history". You're only about 200 years old for fecks sake you will be fine.
Was similar after Vegas. They went from $125-150 to all of a sudden selling for $900+ because people thought they would be banned. The supplies stopped selling them for a short time as well. Then a week ago you could get them for around $100.
It would be cool if every student and teacher in the US walked out and stayed out until action was taken on gun control.

I just hate that we've created a climate where somehow the only answer many people can fathom to tons of innocent people being murdered by guns on a daily basis is to pass out more guns. The rhetoric is basically the only way to feel safe is to have a gun. It's such circular, dumb logic. All because people would rather risk innocent people dying than losing their toys.

It's the circle of NRA trying to use every gun tragedy to sell even more guns. It's the talking point they have been pushing for decades "the only one who can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."
He isn't doing it well though, he still takes money from the organisation that funds guns which kill people in these mass shootings. Praising him for merely going to the meeting is like heaping praise on Mourinho for merely turning up at Old Trafford.
Showing up to a townhall meeting is doing his job WELL? If he did his job and supported gun reform in the first place then this wouldnt have happened at all.

The whole arming teachers thing is just a diversion. It’s not meant to be taken seriously. They’re doing exactly what they always do after one of these shootings. Spew a load of hot air until the initial outrage dies down and/or some other big story breaks and the gun control issue fades into the background.
Just highlights the absurdity of the debate where banning bump stocks is considered a big deal. Just imagine how people would react if the Dems were in charge and banned AR15s.
Yeah probably true but I don't even get the stance from people who actually love guns for recreational "shooting" and to feel protected. I mean it should be in the interest of serious gun enthusiast to keep guns out of the hand of mentally ill nut jobs. The NRA need a good counter campaign against them. Would be great if a group of lefty billionaires pooled about 10b into a fund to discredit them, their leadership, and launch relentless ads against any politician that accepts money from them.
I agree it probably won't actually happen, but I think a good number of Republican politicians would genuinely like to see this; it's not some fringe idea but instead something a significant portion of the actual reigning government would endorse.
So tomorrow if his electorate wants all drugs legalized is he going to make it happen in his state? He is representing the minority group's views cause that suits his views since he is receiving donations from the NRA cnuts. It doesnt mean he is doing the right thing. Dont fall for everything the politician says cause that exactly what he did at the townhall - "I need to worry about my agenda".
A portion of them, maybe. Doubt it’s a majority though. Even the most rabid gun nuts will know they haven’t a snowball’s chance in hell of getting any actual legislation along these lines through congress. It’s all bluff and bluster.

Thoughts watching this:
1. How sure is he that there is no one down range that could be impacted by high velocity projectiles? Even in the wastes of Wyoming, there's a non-zero risk that there's some stragglers that might be impacted by such activities
2. The AR is a really sexy gun. Sleek and menacing. The engineering of the device is impressive too, much less recoil than I expected for the exit velocity. If I had a lot of spare cash I'd probably buy one, along with a shit-load of blanks, and play pretend COD in my briefs.
3. If required by law, I'd gladly give my theoretical AR up. My curiosity pales in comparison to the overall societal benefit of not having guns.
4. The bump stock is a really ingenious way (engineering wise) of bypassing the semi-auto restriction. It has no use outside of war, and should be banned. Shit, not many infantry soldiers have access to full auto capability, it's a waste of ammo. Worthless for hunting, useless for home self-defense. Plus it amplifies the damage a maniac can use.
5. Reading the video comments, the disconnect between American's jadedness with gun violence (I admit I'm guilty of this at times) and the rest of the world just screaming, "what the actual feck is wrong with you morons????", couldn't be more stark. That should be enough to give most Americans food for thought. I don't think there is any other country in the world where there is such an unhealthy attachment with advanced lethal slingshots. Unfortunately I think that justified reaction from youse' causes morons to shout "MURICA" and dig in deeper.
