Anyone excited about 2 hours of football and not having to think about this tomorrow?
I can't wait for the match tomorrow. Hopefully it's a good hammering.Anyone excited about 2 hours of football and not having to think about this tomorrow?
Sorry I just read that and thought I can think of many reasons why Owen is a wanker but just because he thinks isnt one of them
Owen must be thinking....what a wanker.
...he sticks Rooney in the stands from now until he goes (assuming he does go)?
Even if it results in us winning nothing this season?

He can't name him in the matchday squad and make him an unused sub, or he can't put him up in the stands for the rest of the season?Well Ferguson can't leave Rooney on the bench for longer than the January transfer window (if that in fact) without him walking out on a free under the FIFA 'Just Cause' Transfer Regulations.

I disagree. Today's events might tarnish the fondness he's remembered with by United, but it shouldn't tarnish the work he did here. It's sad to see United fans react by deriding his efforts in a United shirt. All of us lucky enough to see his 6 seasons here should know better.
If he wasn't world class he wouldn't be in the position he's in whereby he can likely pick any club in the world and move there, Barcelona and Real Madrid included.
He's an odd player to categorise, Rooney. There might be better pure strikers out there but there are few better out and out footballers, and very few individuals you'd rather have on your team. He's clearly world class to me.
Why do people keep thinking this? Real Madrid and Barca don't want him, they already are fully stocked with just as much or even more talented players in the positions that Rooney can play. His lack of true technical ability with the ball at his feet would be found out in Spain. His style of play is not fit for La Liga.
and at this point there are MANY individuals I would rather have playing for my team
To be honest, I'm so angry I might play football manager and use it to manually lower all of Rooney's stats.
That'll teach him
City have a verbal agreement with Rooney.

Like I've said in other threads, IF it's just personal problems things may settle down in a few months time and he'll happily sign a new contract. I'm sure most of us have been in a dark place where we're not thinking clearly for a while, and I'm hoping that's all that's happening here. That's why I'm hoping the fans don't get on his back too much until we know more about what the hell is going on.Messing us about in other words?
Where's this from?
I'm really not enjoying the City fans gloating over this....
Mourinho DOES want him but he's out because City have a verbal agreement with Rooney.
And you're still a bit of a spastic by the look of it.

I think he will stay.
I just watched Fergies interview from MUTV. As long as what Fergie says is 100% true, watching that must have made Wayne think hes at the right club.
Genius from Fergie.
Rooney isn't and never has been a World Class player, one season no matter how good doesn't make you World Class, do it for 2/3/4 seasons on the bounce and you have a point, he didn't and as a result isn't.
3 games from winning the CL is bullshit, does this mean Lyon have a legitimate claim to having the trophy within their grasp?
"When" he plays ?......."If" he plays ?.
It can go either way. Rooney has just lost all his "lifelines"....theres no goodwill left between him and the fans.
IF he plays....and plays badly.....the crowd will get on his back. And Rooney is a loose cannon. You could very easily see him reacting...leaving the pitch at Old Trafford...in much the same way he did when he left the pitch in South Africa (after the Algeria game).
He has form in that respect.
But likewise if he gets a 92nd minute winner in a game, the crowd will cheer him to the rafters......"Good old Roo" and "Fergie Fergie sign him up".
But not having played at Goodison Park, I cant actually see him playing at Eastlands. Effectively he will only be available for some matches. Whether Injury, Form or "his head isnt right"......he is already an ex-United player.
Football fans are frankly stupid. It took me 50 years to grow out of it. We invest too much trust in players. They let us down. Well some do. But in the case of Rooney it seems it cant be fixed.
The Manager might actually mean it when he says the door is still open. But it would never be the same again.
In a few months.....good ole Wayne will be just another scouser.
Hes not a nice person. Some footballers are not nice people. Some are very nice people.
Some people are born into situations which are difficult. Many do well...........having a decent family is the one true advantage in life. And being a good business man, or thru education or thru football people can rise above "social difficulties".
But I feel sorry for Alex Ferguson and the staff at Old Trafford.
Sometimes you cant make a silk purse out of a sows ear.
Well, I don't know how much City've offered, and trust me, they've offered him a contract....but one can only assume it's a lot more than he's getting at United, and that type of cash can make a mercenary out of anyone. That being said, I still expected more from Rooney. Oh and I've just been listening to Ballague and he said Mourinho and Real suspect he's already made a verbal agreement with City. So, my hunch yesterday was right.
What about until January?
Hell hath no fury like a football manager player's scorn.
Mourinho feels it to be the case which is why he won't be bidding. I see no reason why it's not true. Otherwise there's no way he would've shown his cards.
As i said, i'd be very interested to see the results of a poll consisting of all players, managers and coaches on whether they consider Rooney world class. I'd bet that the vast majority would
Mourinho DOES want him but he's out because City have a verbal agreement with Rooney.

How could agreeing a deal with the player and not his club not be considered tapping up? That seems like the very definition of tapping up.Would Fergie expose a city deal in an attempt to pile more pressure should this attempt not reverse his decision?
