Paul Pogba

I'll admit, I was hoping for one of those debuts that is the stuff of legend.

Was pretty funny though those first few minutes when he looked as nervous as a balloon in a cactus patch.

I hope we'll see Ravel in the next one..! Maybe if we get an easy draw, like Arsenal or something.

I had to laugh a little when the commentator said something along the lines of "he needs to work a bit on his shooting" after the skied effort. Do your homework.

He gave the ball away a few times in our own half, but showed glimpses of his potential. Looking forward to seeing him playing more often - I reckon there's a chance he might feature in bigger games this season once he has a bit more first team experience behind him.

I've previously said I'd reserve judgment on the young lads until I'd seen them play and was very impressed with both Fryers and Pogba last night.

Pogba looked excellent - a great athlete and genuniely box to box. A very exciting debut in my opinion.

I suspect it was more tongue in cheek than anything else.

Considering the level of knowledge of the SSN Commentators who compared him to Vieira as soon as he came on, I suspect not.

I reckon Pogba will be disappointed with his performance. He's shown so much more at reserve level but nothing quite came off for him yesterday (apart from that one sumptuous pass to Valencia) and he was a bit careless on the ball at times. If he impressed you yesterday, you'll be blown away when you see him on a good day!

Same here. My impression is that he did not settle down well, most probably he was a bit nervous. But there s no doubt that the talent is there

I thought he looked a bit edgey at first but warmed up as the game went on. I was impressed how he kept making himself available for the ball. Havent seen much of him apart from You Tube clips but the future certainly looks bright if he is to live up to the potential some are mentioning.

He looked very nervous.

Which is slightly odd when you see the scoreline. The stage was set for him to really show what he can do.

He did good, showed good maturity for me, wasn't afraid to show for the ball and take responsibility, he didn't shy away once.

Hopefully so.

Its diffiuclt to make your first team debut for any player - I agree that at times things didnt come off, but the fact that he got himself into the correct positions and got himself on the ball up and down the field in both attacking and defensive positions was very impressive.

He seemed to adjust to the pace of the game quickly and also put his foot in a few times.

His long pass to Valencia was excellent but I also like how he used teh ball simply when required. Very promising.

I I don't mind Alan Smith to be fair - quite knowledgable and no to biased towards his former club.

The commentators on BBC and ITV are far, far worse in my opinion.

Yeah, Sky have far better commentators and pundits. Disregarding Jamie Redknapp...

Last night was the perfect game for him - against lower league opposition, surrounded by some very experienced first team players, and in a noisy, hostile environment that he is going to have to get used to. He did fine and was a bit overshadowed by the first teamers which is a good thing as means he can continue to quietly develop away from the spotlight.

I'm happy with that debut. He was overall very confident and assured in midfield, and few moments of nervousness aside.

Besides, what a crazy line-up to make your full debut, anyone playing well today deserves a ton of credit, it's got to be confusing.

I had to laugh at Berba in the centre of defence

Physically he's looking immense, as with age he develops greater upper body strength he'll be a tremendous presence. Lets hope his technical ability develops in the same vein.

Yeah it wasn't the greatest debut, but I put that down to the team only playing half power in the second half. Most of the players just walked around and weren't really interested in pursuing a fourth goal, which meant Pogba didn't have many options when he was on the ball resulting in him forcing something or just passing it backwards.

Is it wrong that I dont actually mind Jamie Redknapp?

Anyway, back to Pogba, I thought he did well considering it was his debut, but as said before he didn't perform anywhere near to the level that he puts in during the reserve games, which Im going to put down to nerves.

Once the lad has a few more 1st team games, sub appearances, his confidence will build, the nerves will settle then we will see the Pogba from the Reserves.

Loved the way he kept wanting the ball back. But he didn't seem to do a lot of running, is that 'just his style' because we've heard that one before. Not criticising here because I haven't seen much of Pogba, but does he usually come off as lazy?

Fraid so; even by pundit's standards he's a tedious cretin.

Fair point.

He was always looking for the ball which is a very good sign. A few more games and he'll settle down.

He plays at his own pace. He's quite deceptive. A good experience for him but the psychology behind it all is quite interesting. Some people say he was looked nervous and some people said he was already looking for the ball - but away from home, with the game pretty much won with a 'unique' team selection - no complaints.

Sir Alex said he had a knock too pre game and you wonder if that was Sir Alex's mind games at work or perhaps that's why he started on the bench. If he played in the first half, i'm sure it would have been easier for him. I think the waiting in that hostile environment was a good education for him.

He's very raw as a player - lacks maturity. I've thought this in nearly every game I've seen him in. Talented as you like though.
